Why Shoes?

We believe that our earth is a limited resource we must cherish, protect and steward.  We have been provided one earth to tend and the natural resources to stay alive. We believe in protecting these resources locally and globally.  We see it as a natural chain of events to educate our local communities on protecting natural resources, reducing unnecessary disposal of usable shoes, and ultimately making a positive impact on our local community and its water supply.

Per the department of the Interior, 300 Million pairs of shoes are put into landfills in the US annually.

It’s estimated that 20 billion pairs of shoes are produced annually.

Depending on the composition of materials used, it can take 20-50 years for shoes to decompose in a landfill.

The Ethylene Vinyl Acetate, which usually makes up the midsole of most running shoes, can last for as long as 1,000 years in a landfill.
