Locally, ShoeCrew is working diligently to educate our community about the global water crisis. Through presentations, conversations, and outreach, we empower everyone to make a global impact through local action. The global water crisis affects all of us and it takes all of us to change the future of our global community and our planet.
783 million people do not have access to safe, clean water. That’s nearly 4 times the population of the United States. Most people don’t realize that for a family without access to water, most of the effort to walk to collect water and bring it home to families, is the responsibility of women and children. Children are not able to go to school due to the time required to collect water for their families and women are left with little time to nurture their families or to work in support of improving their economic conditions. And without education, children are left in the same cycle of poverty.
